Prof. Ozumba, former provost of the UNN medical school, attended Government College, Umuahia, before proceeding to the University of Lagos, UNILAG, where he studied medicine. After joining the services of the university, Ozumba rose rapidly and was elevated to the academic status of Professor after seven years of teaching. Apart from publishing more than 300 books, Prof. Ozumba, had training in different foreign universities, since after graduating from the University of Lagos and belongs to several local and international professional bodies. After serving as Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, UNN, Prof. Chukwuma Ozumba, was subsequently appointed Provost of the UNN College of Medicine in 2004 to 2008 and would be remembered for instituting the Prof. Chukwuedu Nwokolo annual lecture series for academic excellence, as well as founding the University of Nigeria College of Medicine Alumni Association, UNNCOMA.
Prof. K. Mosto Onuoha had his university education at the Lorànd Eötvös University, Budapest, Hungary where he obtained an MSc Degree (with Distinction) and the PhD Degree (summa cum laude) in Applied Geophysics. He later served as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Geophysical Institute of Technical University of Clausthal-Zellerfeld, Germany from where he returned to Nigeria and joined the services of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) as Lecturer in 1980. He was the pioneer Professor at the Mobil Producing Nigeria’s Chair of Petroleum Geology, at the University of Calabar (1991-1992). Between 1996 and 2002, he was on leave of absence from the UNN and served as Technology Development Adviser (Subsurface Development Services) at the Shell Petroleum Development Company Limited, Port Harcourt. He served Shell/NNPC Chair Professor of Geology from 2003 to 2012. He also served concurrently as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of the University of Nigeria between 2005 and 2009. In January 2013, he was appointed to the PTDF Chair of Petroleum Geology at the UNN. He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Science and currently serves as the President of Academy.
Dr. Chinedu was born on the 8th of September 1969 at Enugu where he also had his primary and post-primary educations. He then proceeded to Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka for his Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Mathematics and graduated with a second class upper in 1994. After his Youth Service Corp, he secured an appointment with Kaduna Polytechnic, Kaduna as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer science where he later rose to the rank of a Chief Lecturer. He obtained a Masters degree (M. tech) in Applied Geophysics from Federal University of Technology, Minna in 2001. He also obtained a PhD in Applied Geophysics from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 2011. He had also lectured in other Higher Institutions of learning including; Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kogi State University, Anyigba as a sabbatical staff and presently transferred his services to the Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He has published several research articles in applied geophysics, computer science, applied mathematics and programming languages in renowned Journals. He had been involved in many consulting services both for the Government and private organizations, amongst which is the Executive Governor’s team that visited Kwoi for an in-situ evaluation of several incidences of earth tremors in the area and around Kaduna state. He is a member of Nigerian Institute of Physics (NIP), Nigerian Minning and Geosciences Society (NMGS), Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) and Mathematical Association of Nigeria (MAN).
Ogu, Okey Charles is a professor specialized in the areas of sport sociology and cultural anthropology including social-psychology of sport and sports management. He bagged his PhD in 2001 at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He lectures at the Department of Human Kinetics and Health Education of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, Nigeria. Served as Head, Department of Human Kinetics and Health Education. Chair, Review of Minimum Standards on Physical and Health Education for Colleges of Education on July 24-29, 2006. A grant recipient of Association of African Universities (AAU) on Institutional Initiatives to Enhance Participation, Access, Retention and Success in African Higher Education: Recipient of international full scholarship to citizens of developing countries as a researcher who has over the years engaged in the theoretical interpretation of practices surrounding the quality of life and attitudes towards physical activity of children with disabilities at the 19th International Symposium of the Adapted Physical Activity (ISAPA), Istanbul Turkey. Member, International Council for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Sports and Dance (ICPHER-SD), Sport Sociology Commission. Editor-In-Chief of some journals, Editorial Board Member PALAESTRA; a non-open access journal based in United States of America and has served as External Examiners to several universities in Nigeria. Professor Ogu Okey Charles belongs to eleven professional bodies including International Federation of Adapted Physical Activity (IFAPA). Executive Board Member of IFAPA Representing African Region.
Dr Andreas Meissner serves as head of business development in the Security business unit at Germany’s Fraunhofer IOSB, the Fraunhofer Institute of Optronics, System Technologies and Image Exploitation in Karlsruhe, Germany. He represents Fraunhofer IOSB at security research events in Europe and beyond, and along with his colleagues he helps companies innovate and capitalize on recent security research results. Previously he was division manager for Mobile Distributed Information Systems at Fraunhofer IPSI in Darmstadt, Germany. Andreas holds a combined Computer Science and Business Administration diploma degree of Mannheim University (Germany) as well as a U.S. MBA degree; he earned his doctoral degree in engineering at Braunschweig Technical University. During his leisure time Andreas is a seasoned world traveler, with a special interest in Africa. In continental Africa his travels have taken him to all but three countries.
Professor Joshua E. Umeifekwem graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree 2nd Class Upper Division in 1991. Shortly after his National youth Service, he joined as a Graduate Assistant in 1995 the Department of Human Kinetics and Health Education then, Health and Physical Education, University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Joshua Emeka Umeifekwem had his master’s degree in Sport Psychology from the University of Nigeria and his Doctoral degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan. In addition to being a member of the University Senate, a one time Associate Dean of Education, University of Nigeria and Coordinator of Affiliate programmes for the Faculty of Education, University of Nigeria, he is presently the University Mace Bearer and Head, Department of Human Kinetics and Health Education, University of Nigeria. His Specializations are in the area of Sport Psychology and Exercise Physiology. He has published widely both internationally and locally. His special areas of interest are in Sports safety and Promotion of physical activity for diverse population; Currently he is profiling Physical activity behaviour of workers in government academic institutions in Nigeria. He belongs to many professional bodies including International Council for Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE); International Council for Health, Physical Education, Recreation Sports and Dance (ICHPER.SD).
Prof. Akinsola is a public health specialist. He obtained his first degree and Ph.D. at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria; and Master’s degree at the University of Manchester, England. Prof. Akinsola has worked in several countries in different parts of Africa where he served in different capacities. Between 2009 and 2015, Prof. Akinsola was the Head of the Dept. of Public Health at the University of Venda where he has been working since 2007. He retired in 2015 and he is currently a Professor Emeritus in Public Health at the University of Venda. He has published widely in several journals both locally and abroad and he is the author of four books which cover different aspects of public health. He has supervised and co-supervised scores of postgraduate students both at Honours, Master’s and Ph.D. levels.
